Service Description

Sew (pun intended) you have a sewing machine but do not know how to start, feel intimidated or just need a refresher. If so, this class is for you. I love to sew and am eager to share my joy in sewing with you. I have designed this weeklong class to teach you fundamental sewing skills and provide the information every sewist needs. You will: • Learn about your sewing machine and its capabilities • Learn sewing terminology • Develop a sewing tool kit • Learn basic sewing skills such as sewing a straight seam, learning to choose the best thread and needle for a project, sewing a zipper, making buttonholes, choosing well-drafted and appropriate patterns, reading a pattern, cutting out a pattern and trouble shooting. • Learn to understand fabric basics and how to make appropriate fabric choices We will cement your newly acquired skills with skill-appropriate projects, culminating in a simple garment (yet to be determined). I can’t wait to share my love of sewing with you and to be part of your sewing journey. Supply List: • Sewing Machine and the feet that came with your sewing machine • Your sewing machine manual • Notions/tools that came with your sewing machine (including at least two bobbins) • Pins • Seam ripper • 18x2 inch flexible, plastic ruler • Sewing tape measure • Marking tools including, at minimum, a frixion pen and a chalk marker • Sewing shears suitable for cutting out fabric • Sewing snips or comparable small scissors • Wash Away Wonder Tape • Wonder Clips (or an equivalent) • Universal sewing needles size 80/12 • 1 yard plain fabric with contrasting thread • A list of what you hope to learn during this class
